Campus Governance and Right to Information Workshop, Indian School of Mining (ISM)– Dhanbad, 9th January, 2009

Workshop on Right to Information and its role in making the campus administration and governance more efficient, competent, transparent and accountable was conducted by Rajan Kumar Singh.

more... More than 250 students of different branch of Engineering participated in the workshop. Session on RTI included the detailed discussion about the history, procedures, format of application, where to be used and framing of questions etc. A documentary on the importance and success of RTI was screened following the discussion on how to use this in college to make the management more responsible. Different myths, queries and questions were raised by the participants which got clarified during the session. Such an interest and enthusiasm among the technocrats for a social issue and the social work being done by “KARTAVYA”- a social work of ISM students (which organised the workshop in collaboration with National Service Scheme, ISM) on such a massive scale by them proved the baseless notion wrong that youths of today are becoming more and more materialistic and less sensitive towards society.
